Commodities

To manage commodity reference data in PCIT, complete the following steps:

 

 

1.Select the PCIT Administration link from the left menu.
RESULT:  The PCIT Administration page appears.

 

2.Select Manage Reference Data from the Select Reference Data Function drop-down list.
RESULT:  The PCIT Administration - Reference Data page appears.

 

3.Select Commodities from the Select A Function drop-down list.
RESULT:  The Commodity Administration - Update Commodity page appears.

 

To update an existing commodity:

 

4.Enter either a common name or botanical name and click Search.

RESULT:  The List of Commodities table displays the resulting list.

NOTE: The search results are limited 1000 commodities.

 

5.Click the Update button to update the commodity.

RESULT:  The Commodity Details page appears with the commodity details displayed.

 

6.Make any updates including adding or deleted variety data and click Save. Confirm the update by clicking Yes.

 
 

To delete an existing commodity:

 

7.Search for the commodity.  Click its Delete button in the resulting List of Commodities table.  Confirm the deletion by clicking Yes.

 

You may can also create new commodities.  There are several commodity types that can be added:

 

A Standard Commodity includes a common name and a botanical name (Genus species). Optionally a standard commodity can be identified as CITES/ESA or for use on state phytos only.  An optional international code can be added for future use in electronic exchange of phytosanitary data.  Additionally Variety data can be associated with a standard commodity.  A standard commodity can be selected during application creation.
A Genus specifies the botanical Genus name.  Optionally the Genus can be identified as CITES/ESA and an international code can be added.  This commodity type is used to create other reference data and is not selected during application creation.
A Mixed Commodity is a special commodity type that describes a commodity comprised of several standard commodities.  A mixed commodity can be selected during application creation.

 

To add a commodity:

 

8.Select the Add Commodity link from the left menu.
RESULT:  The Commodity Details page appears with Standard Commodity defaulted as Commodity Type.

 

9.To add a Standard Commodity, complete the required fields (Common name and Botanical name (Genus species)).  Check the appropriate box(es) to indicate if the commodity is CITES/ESA or For State Phytos Only.  Enter the optional international code if desired.

 

To add Variety data for the standard commodity, select Common Name or Botanical Name, and enter the name in the Manage Varieties block.  Click Add.

RESULT:  The Commodity Details page appears with the updated variety.

 

Click Save.  Confirm the addition by clicking Yes.

RESULT:  The Commodity Administration page appears

 

NOTE:  Upon save, PCIT will verify that a Genus group (an spp. record) already exists for the standard commodity Genus entered.  If it does not, PCIT will automatically add the Genus group (spp. record) and the Genus commodity (sp. record).  For example, if you create Malus domestica, Malus spp. (group) and Malus sp. (commodity) would be created if they did not already exist.

 

10.To create a Genus, select Genus from the drop down and enter the Botanical Name. Check the box to indicate if the commodity is CITES/ESA.  Enter the optional international code if desired.   Click the Save button.
RESULT:  The Confirmation page appears.  

 

Confirm the addition by clicking Yes.

RESULT:  The Commodity Administration page appears

 

11.To create a Mixed Commodity, select Mixed Commodity from the drop down and enter the Common Name.  Enter the optional international code if desired.  The Botanical Name ‘See ingredients’ cannot be changed for the commodity type Mixed Commodity. 

 

Click Save.  Confirm the addition by clicking Yes.

RESULT:  The Commodity Administration page appears

 

12.To create a Processed Plant Product, select Processed Plant Product from the drop down and enter the Product Name.

 

Click Save.  Confirm the addition by clicking Yes.

RESULT:  The Commodity Administration page appears
