Privacy Act Statement

PRIVACY ACT STATEMENT (5 U.S.C. 552a)

Purpose: The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) collects information to support the issuance of phytosanitary certificates for plants, plant products, and other regulated articles intended for export. The Phytosanitary Certificate Issuance and Tracking System (PCIT) is a secure system for applying for, evaluating, tracking the status of, and issuing phytosanitary certificates.
Authority: Collection of this information is authorized by the Plant Protection Act 7 U.S.C. 7718 Section 415: Certification for exports.
Routine Uses: APHIS may routinely share data in the PCIT system with state and county government officials who provide phytosanitary inspection services on behalf of the Federal Government. In addition to those disclosures generally permitted under 5 U.S.C. 552a(b) of the Privacy Act, records contained in the system may be disclosed outside of the USDA as a routine use under 5 U.S.C. 552a(b)(3), to the extent that such uses are compatible with the purposes for which the information was collected.
